It is a traditional drink for the people of Crete. From the old times is considered to be a good drink for the health. In southern Crete, practical health aiders of the last century used it for the first bath of newborns. This is how the 40 Aromas of the Earth were received. Contains 40 aromatic medicinal herbs such as Dictamus, Salmon, Thyme, Sage, Plum, Basil, Blackberries, Roses and more.
Its components are preserved intact over time and this is why Sarantavotano has become a song that has been passed on to Cretan folklore, resulting in its transmission from generation to generation.
“You look like you lost your health and you want to win it back
only with herbs of the earth will you regain it.
Citrus leaves and lemon aroma

These forty herbs were boiled in a unused clay. After boiling the forty herbs, they threw them in a really big bowl. Whoever needed the treatment entered in the big bowl and stayed for about half an hour. The same procedure was repeated nine times and this process was called "bath therapy".

SARADAVOTANO: Absinthe, Artichoke, Agriada, Altaia, Apiganos, Achilles, Balsam, Thistle, Clove, Rosemary, Diktamos, Mint, Eucalyptus, Melissochorto, Zambrios, Gambaros, Zamprou Bambos Marjoram, Fennel, Nettle, Sage, Fliskouni, Oregano, Chamomile, Polycombi, Mint, Echinacea, Basil, Coriander, Taraxacum, Tilia, Rose, Mallow.
The tea is made using 1 teaspoon for 1 cup of water.
Boil the water and add the herbs for 5 minutes, strain and then serve the tea plain, with sugar or honey.
