Senna

It is recommended for the relief of transient or occasional constipation. There is clear evidence of the lethal effect of anthracinone contained in Senna, and the lethal effect of sennosides, which is hydrolyzed by the intestinal bacteria and cleaved to yield the active ingredient (anthrone).
